Let's Get Dangerous!
Another Disney Afternoon cartoon that quickly became one of my favorites growing up was Darkwing Duck. With just the right mixture of Batman, 007, the Justice League (when Darkwing would team up)...and DuckTales it was rounded out to be over the top and super fun.
I was so happy this cartoon had a decent toyline and it was made by Playmates, who were at the time going gangbusters with the Teenage Muntant Ninja Turtles action figure line.
I was lucky enough to pick these up before the prices on them shot up.
Pictured are....
Launchpad Mcquack who everyone knows from DuckTales and was quite a strange choice for a crossover character. But he made the series. I just wonder who was flying for Scrooge while he was away...lol
Honker Muddlefoot was Goslin's tag along partner.
(sadly his glasses fell off and are in the bottom of the bubble)
Gosalyn...Darkwing's adopted daughter and secondary sidekick next to Launchpad.
These 2 villains are my least favorite of the series.
Tuskerninni...a film maker gone bad, with a camera that can bring movies to life. Not a bad idea, but I just couldn't find myself liking him at all. Would have been cool if they had packed in a couple of his penguin henchmen.
Steel Beak sadly was another villain I didn't care for. While I liked the idea of F.O.W.L...I just didn't care for him as a character.
Now these are 2 of my favorites of the set.
Dr. Bushroot was kind of like an evil/comedicly tragic Poison Ivy. All his crimes were plant based in nature.
And..
Megavolt. Next to Nega Duck, he was my top evildoer from the cartoon. Just because he was so off balance and just a bit over they top crazy.
(Cardback for all figures are the same except for the profile card.)
But alas...I do not have the shows main character in action figure form....or at least not a carded figure of him. Oh no, he is the one figure I haven't run across yet.
BUT!
I do have him in some form from the toyline.

Aside from the figures they also produced vehicles like the Rat Catcher motorcycle and the Thunderquack plane. They even produced a life sized replica of his Gas Gun....sadly I have never run across these in the wild.
There was a series 2 set that was supposed to be released, but for whatever reason it was not mean to be...and I have to say...it was one hell of a line up!

This can only be described as MEGA DUCK! A full 12 inch figure with cloth cape and removable Fedora. The only thing I wish they would have included would have been his Gas Gun.
The box is a little worse for wear, but can you belive I picked him up on Clearance for only $2.90!!

I would have loved to see some of these released.

And in keeping with the Disney Afternoon theme...Don Karnage...leader of the Pirates.
The only regular sized figure I have from the TailSpin toyline (I have a 12 inch Baloo figure), but he is one of my favorite characters from the show. This is a pretty decent depiction of him, and makes me want to hunt down the other figures, especially Wildcat (who was my second favorite character).

I died a little inside tonight....
DUCKTALES FIGURES DO EXIST!!!
I found these pictures on the net after seeing an auction on ebay...
They were made by a company called Simba in 1988. And after seeing them...I do kind of remember them on toy store pegs in the 80s, but I didnt get that feeling till I saw the boxes. Strange how something you really loved as a child...totally slips your mind until you see it again.
Sadly it looks and sounds like these are harder than hell to find, which translates to expensive as hell. So I may never own one since I am cheap....*sigh*
I am glad to see that there are figures out there for this line. Hopefully one day I will run across at least one in the wild while scrounging through a box at a garage sale.

It's on Like Donkey Kong....Jr.
For the few blogs I follow it just seems like everyone's lives are going to hell right now. I myself went into the hospital last Sunday and got out on Thursday. I come in and read a few blogs....and quite a few of the first blogs I clicked are going on hiatus or not even sure if they are coming back at all!
THAT SUCKS!!
But...
I wish them well, and I wish the ones that are coming back soon...a speedy return! :)
On to the blog.
About 2 weeks back I received an awwwwwwwwwwesome package from Jboypacman over at the blog Revenge of the Cosmic Ark. I had asked him through my YouTube channel if he would keep and eye out for the Kre-O blind bagged Transformers that were getting released (still have not seen them local) because for some reason we in Kansas City get stuff super late. Well...long story short, he said he would. A few days later I get a comment back and he picked up a set for me. I was ecstatic! In the coming days I was keeping and eye out for them, expecting a yellow envelop in my mailbox. Instead I recived a huge package delivered by FEDEX! WOAH!
I won't go over everything in this blog post, but I will highlight something I thought was cooler than HELL! I never had one growing up, and I had seen all of them at one point or another growing up. I had even been thinking about getting one of the machines (but cost kept me away).
I speak of the mini Coleco Tabletop Arcade cabinets.

This is the Donkey Kong Jr. Tabletop, it is based on the Nintendo Game and Watch Donkey Kong Jr Tabletop almost exactly (aside from the sticker art). Sadly, this would have been even cooler if they had done it as one of their traditional Coleco mini cabinets, but by the time this was released the videogame crash of the 80's was almost upon the US.
One of the coolest things in my eyes, that I never got growing up. I am a retro game collector along with the toys and comics....and when I saw that in the box I was ready to strangle Jboy. lol
Hopefully I will have a package going out to him again soon. :)
THANKS AGAIN JBOY!!!
